what will it be medieval, steam punk, ancient china or a mix?

Definitely going normal medieval, as that's the setting normal 3.5 D&D consists of.

The setting is included in the campaign I'll be using. I can give you a synopsis of it sometime tomorrow, if you like.

Guys, I've definitely changed my mind about the campaign. I can't do Rise of the Runelords because my DM is doing it, and I can't know everything about it.

So I think what we'll do is just a bunch of random "mission" type things, just pulled off of random websites, that meet our level, 'kay?

No other campaigns to work with, then?

Alright, but is there any way you can have an underlying main villain we see glimpses of as we progress?

I suppose - and we'll always be free to head back to the villages and towns that we've already seen. Very Happy

So now I need to find a level 1 dungeon.. Bleh, work.. XD

Of course. I guess we'll have a world map that we add to every time we find a place, right?

The DMG lets you make them, it actually might take less work rollign up a random dungeon.

That involves me actually detaily-reading the DMG.

... No.

Not at all! It's only a specific section of chapter 3.

Okay, guys...

I just tried being a DM for a game that I played with my friends.. Yeah.. I can't do it. :/

I still haven't heard back from Alex Seibel.

If NO ONE ELSE will, i guess I will, but I really want to use this character.

I personally don't have any problems with the DM having a character - even though I know it's not really something that is done.

Our DM has one because we're low on people, and otherwise would be screwed in dungeons, but yeah - if you can keep the character's knowledge and your own separated, I don't care what you do. XD

I've tried it before, it's really not easy or beneficial.

Matt's asking a friend of his.

My bad, I didn't see this thread.

I can DM if someone else makes maps. I can do the story and gameplay. I don't feel like mooching off someone else for shit I should be doing though.

I'll ask around some real-life friends, see if they want to DM. Don't know many people into DND though D:

Making the maps would be a spoiler, but there's an EXCELLENT guide to making random dungeons in chapter 3 of the Dungeon Master's Guide, if you have it or get it from Ian.

Page 78 has the Random Room chart, but just use all of chapter 3, it has random roll tables for any element and for various monster encounters.
